This came into my inbox: 2015 October Platform Challenge (link). I almost deleted it. Almost. Then the voice on my left shoulder (we’ll call him Muninn) cawed, “You have been wanting to work on this skill as long as I can remember.” Not to be outdone, the voice on my right shoulder, (let’s just say he’s named Huginn) cackled, “I really think you should do this.”
So sleeves up, I am committed to this month of daily challenges! Here goes…
2015 October Platform Challenge: Day 30 – Step Away for Your Writing
(link)
*****
The instructions for today are: “Step Away for Your Writing”
Huginn eyes the instructions critically, “It’s too easy. There’s a catch.”
Muninn nods dramatically and says in his theater voice,
“Beware the challenge-wock, my son!
The dare that bites, the laws that catch!
Beware the command line, and shun
The impossible challenge-hack!”
Huginn shakes his head, “Don’t quit your day job, bro. Leave the creative work to me.”
I snicker a bit. “Okay, look. I know I have a ton of podcast releases to announce today, but I can devote some extra time to writing.”
“Yes,” says Muninn, pointedly ignoring Huginn, “but you’re also trying to get everything ready so you can scribe like a gnomish bard during NaNoWriMo.”
Huginn’s eyes go wide, “You… you…”
“Yes,” Muninn snaps, “I made a reference to the fantasy genre. Happy now?”
“Bah…” Huginn’s brain seems to have short circuited.
“Quick,” Muninn whispers, “Use the quiet time I just bought you to begin penning your next great work!”
I nod and get to it!
